Weekend in San Diego
I had my first (and definitely not last) visit to San Diego back in November and it exceeded all of my expectations. San Diego has been on my list to visit for years and I’m so happy we were able to make it happen Here is our itinerary for a short weekend in what is now my favorite city on the west coast 🙂
We started off the trip with a visit to La Jolla beach. Do yourself a favor and walk all along the water, it’s beautiful and the seals are so cute. We had lunch at The Taco Stand (some of the best tacos I’ve ever had), and next door was a little coffee shop with AMAZING baked goods (try the ube cookies).
We stayed in Little Italy (highly recommend staying and/or visiting the area). On Saturday mornings they have an awesome green market with tons of great food and craft vendors. I would suggest having breakfast or brunch at Morning Glory, we weren’t able to but it’s on my list for the next trip. We ate dinner at Born and Raised – an amazing steakhouse for a fancy date night, check out the bar on the rooftop before or after dinner too! Pictured below is the bread and uni pasta which was delicious!
Definitely visit the North Park area, we drank a few beers at Mike Hess Brewing and Pretzels and Pints, shopped and finished with tacos at City Tacos – so good!
I would highly recommend hiking around the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, we did it in the morning – it was an easy to medium level hike/walk, with stunning views of the Pacific coast.
On our last day we visited Ocean Beach (heard Pacific Beach may be better I can’t remember), we had beers at Kilowatt Brewing (loved their beers) and burgers at Hodad’s, a famous little spot by the beach with amazing burgers but be prepared to wait for a table. I wasn’t totally sold on the idea of going to The San Diego Zoo, but it really is the best zoo I have ever been to, highly recommend, especially if you are going with the kiddos.
This was the view from the wedding welcome party we attended, how could you not fall in love with this city? Let me know if you have any spots I missed so I can add them to my list for our next trip! XO
