Tour de Texas – San Antonio
My boyfriend, Tom, and I are trying to take more weekend trips visiting places in Texas that we can drive to, versus spending additional money and time on flights, so our first trip/stop on what I have deemed the Tour de Texas, was to San Antonio! I had never been to the city, but always heard pretty good things about it, while Tom on the other hand, has been multiple times for work, so he already had some ideas/knew the lay of the land. Overall, I really enjoyed the city, the riverwalk is really nice during the day to walk along, and honestly, GREAT food (which if you know me, is the main reason I travel), and I felt like our 2-3 days visiting was the perfect amount of time to see the city. So here is our itinerary…
Friday
Check in at Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk (we have stayed at numerous Canopy’s and they are hands down my favorite hotels)
Quick pitstop at Voodoo Doughnut’s – delicious!
Shopping at Paris Hatters – bought myself a nice Stetson 😉 as seen in pics
Lunch at Bunz Handcrafted Burgers – probably a hot take, but the chicken sandwich was 10/10
River Cruise along the San Antonio River – we didn’t have a problem purchasing tickets day of without having to wait for the cruise to start.
Pre-Dinner cocktails at The Esquire Tavern – awesome spot for food and drinks, speakeasy vibes.
Dinner at Outlaw Kitchens – if you eat anywhere in San Antonio, make it here! They are open a few days a week and their menu changes each week, it’s a 3 course meal with an optional wine pairing. Every dish was fantastic!
We ended the day at the Hotel Emma for cocktails – this place was packed! Great vibes and awesome cocktails. Highly recommend!
Saturday
Drove to the Alamo and the Mission San Jose – very underwhelming but nice to see.
Explore the Pearl area – there was a weekend market going on, with live music, shopping, food, etc. A great spot to explore and feel like a local.
Drinks along the river at Hugman’s Oasis – a tiki style bar with tropical inspired cocktails.
Dinner at Boudro’s – I recommend waiting for a table along the river and definitely order the table side guacamole!
Sunday
We ended up leaving a bit early to do some extra shopping at the San Marcos Premium Outlets – one of the best outlet malls in Texas.
It was a very long day, but we made it back to Dallas in time for dinner!
